Don't think that just because the 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year that Seattle and the surrounding areas will be any quieter. Even though the holiday weekend may be shorter in 2015, there will still be plenty of festivities going on - and lots of people traveling to and from them.
Here is a partial list of Independence Day weekend events:
Emerald Downs Fireworks Spectacular in Auburn on Friday
Eatonville's Fourth of July on Friday and Saturday
SeaTac's Fourth of July carnival at Angle Lake Park from Friday through Sunday
Seafair's Summer Fourth on Saturday
Capitol Hill Independence Day Community Picnic in Seattle on Saturday
In addition, these municipalities will be hosting Saturday 4th of July gatherings:
Many of these venues will be serving alcohol, while countless other private parties in and around Seattle will undoubtedly see its guests partaking of both adult beverages and marijuana. As a result, extra police patrols and enforcement areas will be set up all around the region who are specifically looking for impaired drivers.
So this means that you should observe all of the regular holiday cautions: drive safely, monitor your alcohol or pot intake, designate a driver, and use ride-sharing services or taxicabs to get to and from your destination. And if you do happen to be pulled over and arrested from driving under the influence, be sure and contact a qualified DUI defense attorney as soon as possible to handle your case.
