Addison's Washington State DUI Case Result (State of Washington v. Addison)
Outcome: DUI reduced to Negligent Driving with no jail.
Description: Addison's story began at a fundraiser for a very good cause in Seattle, which we won't name here for obvious reasons of privacy. He was one of the key organizers and helped set up for the event.
On his way home he was arrested by the Washington State Patrol for Drunk Driving. He was stopped for lots of "lane travel" and swerving. He failed the field sobriety tests and the portable breath tester showed him to be over the legal limit. The arrest was recorded as part of the Target Zero federally funded anti DUI campaign. His breath test produced readings that he thought were way higher than how he felt - .08/.08. Addison was stunned that he was charged with the crime of Driving Under the Influence.
In spite of the added attention the case received from the law enforcement agencies we were able to show the prosecutors the weaknesses in the case and resolve it to a smaller crime with no jail time.
