There may be a perception by some people that law enforcement agencies in northwest Washington limit their drunk driving initiatives to holidays in the summertime; namely the Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends. However, this is not an accurate viewpoint - and anyone who thinks it is increases their risk of getting pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence.
With that in mind, here is a list of the increased enforcement areas for DUI in the area for the last two weekends of June:
- On the night of Friday the 21st, police in King County will be watching out for drunk drivers both in Seattle and in Kirkland. The enforcement initiative continues the following night.
- On Saturday the 22nd, both Seattle and Bellevue will be targeted by additional DUI patrols.
- Then on Friday the 28th, a large number of DUI emphasis patrols will be occurring throughout King County during the nighttime hours.
- In Pierce County, another enforcement program will be in effect on Saturday the 22nd. Extra DUI patrols will be out and about looking for impaired drivers.
You should always take the necessary precautions (designated drivers, mixing in food and/or water with alcohol, taking public transport or taxis if possible) whenever you plan on imbibing alcohol. But if you are planning to party over the next two weekends, you should pay extra attention to making sure that you don't become a target for a DUI patrol. That said, always remember that just because you get arrested for DUI does not necessarily mean that you will be convicted of the offense.
